RAD BC was developed as a result of an unfortunate skateboarding accident to one of the owners of NumbSkullz Street Gear Ltd. in the summer of 2009.
"As a parent, it was important for me to do something. I wanted to help reduce accidents and injuries related to the lack of proper use safety equipment. Talking to my son and his friends I developed an understanding that making safety equipment cool was imperative."

"Schools are a great way to reinforce safety concerns and integrate unique projects. As a teacher, I thought it would provide a very interactive project for students inside and outside of schools. It will also provide a great opportunity to help develop a program that reaches far beyond my classroom. When June approached me with her idea, I thought it was an excellent concept.
